Yes, but where's the Halifax June survey!!??
Find A Property: Prices Dip In Every Region In June
Chestertons are way behind the curve..... "Not only was the -0.8 per cent fall marginally worse than the -0.7 per cent in May, but annual appreciation declined for the eleventh consecutive month, leaving house prices just 1.3 per cent higher than they were a year ago."

Was this due out today, or yesterday?
First Friday of month?
I'm getting suspicious.

Something funny has been happening to HBOS share price today. Look at the daily graph on yahoo finance. There is a gap in it.

It was due out today - But it was only marked as "Tentative". If you look at Forexfactory which was flagging it out today. It is now down for monday see here

Thanks Techie. I've been keeping my eye on them as I (unfortunately) kept a few shares and don't know what to do about the rights issue. Pobably nothing I guess. They are frequently cheaper than issue price on the market, and I can't see the nil paid being worth anything.

The last Halifax report came out on June 5th, today is only July 4th so I guess they're not ready yet. It was probably released to the media today but embargoed until tomorrow or Monday - that's how these things normally work. The column-writers get to look at it in advance, which gives them time to ask their editors / owners / advertisers how best to spin the bad news.

Holdingout - it was originally due out yesterday, according to that same link!! I was out of office yesterday so I had to pay £1 in an Internet Cafe for a quick surf and there was nothing doing.

MW - I know it was due out yesterday but the Halifax release unlike the Nationwide one has always been an approximate date. It has been tentatively rescheduled for monday. See here

Re HBOS figures, maybe they're delaying to double check weird data, maybe a rise or big fall?
Or maybe it's been a busy month and a couple of people are on holiday.

Wasn't it HBOS that came up with sayings like 'Compared to 2 years ago, house prices are up X %' ?
Wonder if they're going over the old data so the can say 'Compared to 3 years ago ..............'
@ Boynamedsue - 'Or maybe it's been a busy month and a couple of people are on holiday.' Hehehe.

Reality - House prices down!!!
SPIN - Good news for home owners as house prices have risen nearly 300% in the last 10 years and only dropped 10% of there peak.
